And they're off

Sticking to their plan, Republicans have their eyes on New York's 20th Congressional District to replenish the party's representation...not to mention image. In a game of political musical chairs, the seat was left open when Gillibrand was appointed to fill Clinton's seat in the Senate. Democrat Scott Murphy is expected to challenge Republican Jim Tedisco (see above). While the office was previously held by a moderate Democrat, the seat was long held by Republicans and the current political climate suggests partisan voting will ensue. The fact that Dem's have swept up a lot of seats may just bring more Republicans out to the polls to reclaim territory, especially since plenty of them realize what an important win this will mean for the GOP. Will the district be a case of one step left, two steps back to the right? Maybe they were testing the waters with Gillibrand but now will realize the party needs their votes now maybe more than ever.
